Despite the best attempts of the Yamahas of Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Viñales, the Thai GP saw a certain Mr Marquez cross the line first and win his sixth top class world championship, and his eighth in total. This puts Marquez sixth in the all-time list of championship winners, ahead of the likes of John Surtees, Phil Reed, Geoff Duke and Mick Doohan.

The action continues this weekend at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit, a 2.98 mile (4.8km) circuit with six left-hand and eight right-hand corners and a 2500ft (0.762km) straight.

The all-time circuit record currently belongs to Jorge Lorenzo with a time of 1'43.790 from 2015.
