MotoGP Round 12 Summary & Round 13 TV Schedule

After the bike-fest of last weekend's British and World Superbike coverage, were off to Misano in Italy this weekend for the return of MotoGP.

It seems ages ago since the sunny Bank Holiday and the British GP at Silverstone, so let's review what happened last time out…

MotoGP

Starting from Pole Position (but only just, as Monster Yamaha's Valentino Rossi qualified less than half-a-second behind), Honda Repsol's Marc Marquez took the lead into Copse. Behind him, chaos ensued as Petronas Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo lost control of his bike and, with nowhere to go, Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso went with him. Thankfully, despite a trip to the medical centre for Dovi, both riders were largely unharmed.

Unaffected by the crash behind, Marquez was pushing on, but didn't have it all his own way as he was shadowed at every turn by Suzuki's Alex Rins, who was looking to put an end to his recent disappointing form. As Rins and Marquez were extending their lead, Rossi was slowly slipping down the field being overtaken first by Rins, and then by his teammate, Maverick Viñales.

As the front runners entered Woodcote for the final time it looked like Marquez had done enough to secure the win, but with a final push for the line, Rins switched to the inside and snatched the win by just 0.013s.

Viñales completed the podium in third and Valentino Rossi held on to fourth, ahead of Petronas Yamaha's Franco Morbidelli and Britain's Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda).

Fastest race lap – Marc Marquez – Lap 10 – 1'59.936 (New record)

Moto2

Alex Marquez led the Moto2 field away from the line and looked to quickly settle into the form which has brought him his recent crop of wins, until the fifth lap, when, under pressure from Jorge Navarro, he lost the front into Brooklands and was unable to restart.

This handed the lead to Navarro who led for a further five laps, before being caught up by Brad Binder and Augusto Fernandez.

With Navarro and Binder battling for the lead, Augusto Fernandez was able to capitalise on their slowed pace and put himself into second place and contention for the win.

A final lap push from Fernandez was enough to give him a small lead into Woodcote and a strong run to the line gave him the win by just under half-a-second from Navarro. Binder secured third from a strengthening Remy Gardner.

Britain's Sam Lowes failed to finish, after a first lap spill, and Bennetts British Superbikes 2018 runner-up, Jake Dixon, finished in 23^rd.

Fastest race lap – Augusto Fernandez – Lap 17 – 2'04.835 (New record)

Moto3

Despite starting from the second row of the grid Britain's John McPhee had a strong start to the race, slotting into second place behind pole sitter Tony Arbolino (Leopard Racing).

With championship leader Aron Canet tangling on lap five with Albert Arenas, before rejoining back in 30^thplace, there was all to play for at the front and the next twelve laps saw most of the top riders lead the race.

At the final lap though, the two Leopard bikes of Dalla Porta and Ramirez had risen to the top but were not far enough ahead to resist a final push from Tony Abilino.

At the line it was Ramirez from Arbolino from Dalla Porta, but to be honest, with just eight-tenths of a second covering the top six, one more lap could have seen the any of them take the win.

The season continues this weekend with the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Italy,一条长达4.2公里(2.63英里)的电路,comprising six left-hand and ten right-hand corners, and a 530m straight.

There's a MotoE double header this weekend, with Race 1 on Saturday after Qualifying, and Race 2 on Sunday morning before the Moto3 race. Can Bradley Smith close the gap to the top, or will Mike DeMeglio's experience help him extend his lead?
